Lawmakers are currently considering eliminating the benefits you enjoy through a health savings account (HSA), including affordable premiums, tax advantages and saving for future health care expenses.

Members of the Senate Finance Committee will be voting on proposals as early as September 22. Some of the amendments could adversely affect health savings accounts and even threaten their existence altogether.

These measures are detrimental to HSAs. If they are adopted, individuals may not be able keep their HSA coverage, a promise that has been consistently made by Congress and the Administration throughout the health care reform debate.

Right now is the time to speak up and let your Senators know that you depend on your HSA for affordable coverage and help saving for future medical expenses. Please take a moment to tell your legislators that you support health care reform that protects your choice to keep your HSA.
